Immunochromatographic Assay for Quantitation of Milk Progesterone.
1996
We describe a rapid immunochromatographic method for the quantitation of progesterone in bovine milk. The method is based on a 'competitive' assay format using the monoclonal antibody to progesterone and a progesterone-protein conjugate labelled with colloidal gold particles. The monoclonal antibody to progesterone is immobilized as a narrow detection zone on a porous membrane. The sample is mixed with colloidal gold particles coated with progesterone-protein conjugate, and the mixture is allowed to migrate past the detection zone. Migration is facilitated by capillary forces. The amount of labelled progesterone-protein conjugate bound to the detection zone, as detected by photometric scann…
Simple liquid chromatography assay for analyzing ochratoxin A in bovine milk
2008
Abstract Ochratoxin A (OTA) is a mycotoxin with teratogenic and carcinogenic properties. Animal intake of feedstuffs contaminated with OTA may cause that some residues may be found in bovine milk, therefore, its analysis requires a highly sensitive, simple and precise technique. This method is based on a liquid–liquid extraction with methanol, followed by filtration and extract concentration. Liquid chromatography coupled to fluorescence detection was used for OTA analysis. In this way, several impurities are filtered off and OTA is quantified with a mean recovery of 93.0 ± 7.4% and a limit of detection of 0.01 ng mL −1 . Therefore, this methodology allows a simple quantitative extraction o…
Growth and safety evaluation of infant formulae containing oligosaccharides derived from bovine milk: a randomized, double-blind, noninferiority trial
2014
A limited number of nondigestible oligosaccharides are available for use in infant formula. This study evaluated growth and safety in infants fed formula supplemented with a mixture of bovine milk-derived oligosaccharides (BMOS). This mixture, which was generated from whey permeate, contains galactooligosaccharides and other oligosaccharides from bovine milk, such as 3′- and 6′-sialyllactose. We hypothesized that growth in infants fed BMOS-supplemented formula would be noninferior to that in infants fed standard formula. Healthy term infants ≤14 days old were randomly assigned to standard formula (control; n = 84); standard formula with BMOS (IF-BMOS; n = 99); or standard formula with BMOS …

Fast detection of bovine milk in Rocquefort cheese with phastsystem by gel isoelectric focusing and immunoblotting
1992
.Summary - A fast procedure for the detection of bovine milk in Roquefort cheese is described. It is based on the separation by rapid isoelectric focusing on Phasteysterne apparatus of 12-caseinsfrom the milk of the 2 species. The presence of bovine milk is also confirmed by the detection in the electrophoretic pattern of a ~-casein derived peptide from bovine milk, during cheese ripening, identified by immunoblotting. By using Ihis procedure, levels of bovine milk as low as 5% were easily delecled in Roquefort cheese ripened for a period varying from 10 days to 5 months.
